Under the auspices of preserving election security, Homeland Security Secretary admits nationalizing federal elections is under consideration.
Under the guise of protecting the sanctity of the U.S. election system from cyber attacks, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, admitted that the DHS is considering taking control of the U.S. federal election system from the individual states—perhaps even in time for the election in November.
via the Washington Examiner:
Even before the FBI identified new cyberattacks on two separate state election boards, the Department of Homeland Security began considering declaring the election a “critical infrastructure,” giving it the same control over security it has over Wall Street and the electric power grid.
The latest admissions of attacks could speed up that effort possibly including the upcoming presidential election, according to officials.
The world is a dangerous place, obviously.
Moreover, cyber attacks and election fraud do, in fact, occur.
However, is America really ready to hand its elections over to the same department that runs the TSA and border control?
[What could possibly go wrong?]
